Homemade Almond-Hazelnut Butter

Almond-Hazelnut Butter is a revelation. Its crazy how simple this is to bring together. And it’s delicious on pretty much anything. Except grapefruit. Nothing can make grapefruit taste good.

Why have I not tried this before?

I have made 2 batches already and am in love- the flavour combinations are endless… cinnamon, maple, orange… coconut… Mmmmmm.

Serves: ~1 cup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 cup raw hazelnuts
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional) - add to taste!

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place the almonds and the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast for 6-10 minutes until fragrant. Roll the nuts in a towel to remove a bit of the hazelnut skin.

2

Place the nuts in a food processor. Turn on - buzz the nuts using a spatula once in a while if it gets stuck on the sides. The Mixture will be very dry but the longer you buzz the nuts, the smoother they will get as they release their natural oils (see photos above) - this took about 10-15 minutes. It will form a ball of nut butter before it becomes silky smooth and oily.

3

Add a pinch of salt (this will help to enhance the flavour of the nuts) and the cinnamon if desired.

4

Once reached the desired consistency, pour into a container- Store in the fridge! Enjoy.
